Good Eats March 2011

It's been too long since I've posted Good Eats, pictures of the good food we eat everyday at and near home. I started posting these albums directly on Facebook, but I'm going to try posting them as blog entries for a while. Maybe I can say more about the food ... if I can still remember at this point!

Here's what we ate in March 2011:

We started the month with my attempt at Delfina's simple spaghetti with tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and peperoncini. It turned out delicious, and very close to the real thing, except for my addition of parmesan cheese on top.

Spaghetti Delfina
With a little green on the side.

I love my American comfort food.
steak with peas and carrots
grilled cheese & bologna grilled cheese
tomato soup
Weekend lunch @La Baguette (still the best baguette sandwiches outside of France):
baguette sandwiches & an apple tart
Dinner @Commis in Oakland:
edible stones amuse
egg yolk amuse with sweet (onion?) cream
asparagus soup with crisp artichokes
grilled scallops with sunchoke, alliums with anchovy and miner's lettuce
petrale sole confit with cauliflower, corn vinaigrette and lemongrass
slow cooked lamb with caramelized potato, radish and black chanterelles
duck, roasted and "corned," pear smoked in its skin, tender spring roots
beautiful palate cleanser
chocolate gianduja, green apple, hazelnut, absinthe ice cream
panna cotta scented with winter citrus, pomegranate, coriander shortbread
Back to home cooking:
Our own "Chinese" chicken w/ chicken broth
our interpretation of shaking beef
with sugar snap peas and beech mushrooms
cheddar and broccoli soup with buttered baguette
homemade chicken Caesar salad with anchovies and baguette crostini

That's it for March!
